Face the things you’ve

been avoiding and find

meaning and joy

I help people go from “surviving” and “getting through” day-to-day life to having more meaning, inner calm, and joy.

When I first meet with new clients, they share that the idea of thriving or being happy seems far off. They are putting in mental effort to not think about something bad that happened – or multiple events throughout their life – and that effort saps their energy. They find various ways to avoid difficult emotions or thoughts, and those avoidance strategies cause even more problems.

Some of my clients come in wondering what it would be like to escape the pain of daily life altogether.

Despite being smart, high functioning, caring individuals — they have faced serious challenges in their lives.

If any of this sounds like you, I welcome you to reach out. You are not alone, and there is hope for healing. Together we can sort through the painful experiences you have gone through and work toward a life that feels worth living.

I offer a supportive and safe environment where you can unbox difficult experiences and find a new way of living with them.

My approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address the things that get us stuck after hard experiences or trauma, and the complexities of depression. We will work to uncover the patterns that contribute to your distress, helping you to develop insight, coping strategies, and a full and meaningful life.

With empathy and understanding, I aim to empower you on your journey. You deserve to move forward and to experience joy and inner calm. I am here to assist you every step of the way.

FAQs

What services do you offer?

I provide one-on-one therapy for older teens (ages 16 and up) and adults across all stages of life. I have specialized training in treating severe depression and PTSD/complex PTSD. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy as my treatment of choice for PTSD, which the National Center for PTSD and the American Psychological Association both rank as one of the most effective treatment choices.

What should I expect?

The most important thing I provide as a therapist is a safe space to explore your issues, with no judgment or pressure. My clients describe me as warm, practical, and effective. I alternate between zooming out and shining a light on the cultural, environmental, and social factors that might be contributing to your issues, and zooming in to explore how your own thoughts and behavior patterns might also play a part.

In our first session I will ask you about your background, current issues, and what you'd like help with. Based on your responses I will craft a plan for how we can meet your goals, and work with you to edit the plan and make sure we're on the same page. I will usually share that plan and discuss it with you sometime around the third session, though it could be a little earlier or later in our work together.

I primarily use evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. Therapy is just one hour out of the 168 hours in a week, so I often give a small assignment between sessions, such as practicing what we worked on in-session at home. We'll plan together how to fit these small assignments into your day and make sure you have success. Throughout the therapy, I monitor progress in meeting your goals so that we know if we need to try something different. I work collaboratively with you to define therapy success; typically, that looks like experiencing fewer symptoms, engaging in your life in a more meaningful way, and having the confidence to act as your own "therapist" moving forward.

How much does therapy cost?

My fee is $240 per 50-minute session.

I am a Lyra network provider. You can check if your employer offers Lyra as a benefit here or contact your company’s Human Resources or People Operations department.

I do not accept insurance or have a sliding scale at this time. However in order to make therapy more affordable I am enrolled with a billing tool called Thrizer that makes out-of-network billing easy with your health insurance plan. With Thrizer, you pay your responsibility for our sessions, while they cover the rest of the fee and wait for reimbursement on your behalf. Call your insurance company to verify out-of-network benefits or use Thrizer’s out-of-network verification tool.

Do you offer video therapy / telehealth?

No, my therapy services are in-person. Occasionally I might schedule a video session with an existing client due to travel or other extenuating circumstances.

Do you treat problems aside from PTSD and depression?

Yes! In addition to my specializations in PTSD and depression, I have experience and training in many other common problems people bring to therapy. This includes:

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship problems

  • Substance use

  • Sleep problems

  • Chronic pain

  • Eating and body image issues

  • Identity questions or transitions

What types of people do you work with?

I treat clients from all backgrounds and identities and I honor what makes each person unique. As a White, cisgender, straight woman I strive to be an active ally to the LGBTQ+ community and people with marginalized racial or cultural identities. I will often invite conversation about these differences to ensure we have open communication and can explore how our identities might be influencing our work together.

Unfortunately my office is not accessible for people who cannot walk up a flight of stairs.

Please reach out to me with any additional questions and I would be happy to answer them.
