holding you back

I help people go from feeling stuck and exhausted to joyful and engaged in life.

Do you feel like you’re just getting through each day, with no real joy or sense of purpose? Maybe you’re exhausted from avoiding painful memories or emotions that seem too overwhelming to face. You might be using all your energy to keep those feelings at bay, but it's leaving you worn out and disconnected from the life you want.

You may wonder if things will ever get better, or what it would take to stop feeling this way. Even though you're a smart, caring, and capable person, the weight of the past or ongoing struggles has made life feel like a constant uphill battle.

Sometimes, you might wonder if things will ever get better—or even what it would be like to escape the pain of daily life altogether. You're not alone, and there is a way forward.

Change and healing are possible.

Together, we can help you get back to a life where your energy isn’t consumed by trying to block out memories or sidestep difficult emotions. Instead your energy would go toward the relationships, hobbies, and goals that matter to you. You could live with difficult memories or feelings in a way that allows you peace.

It’s possible to move from simply surviving to truly living. As we work together, you'll discover ways to make sense of what you've been through or how you’ve been feeling, and gradually, the weight of those experiences will start to lift. You might even find that you grow in ways you weren’t expecting.

I guide people through their difficult emotions and toward the life they envision.

My goal is to walk alongside you in this process. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where where you can safely begin to unpack the pain or numbness you've been carrying.

I use evidence-based therapies that are proven to help people find relief from trauma, depression, anxiety, or simply feeling lost after a series of challenges. We’ll work together to understand the patterns contributing to your pain and help you develop practical coping strategies so that, gradually, you feel less stuck.

With empathy and understanding, I’ll be with you as you take this journey toward healing. There is hope for your future, and I’m here to help you find it.

FAQs

What services do you offer?

I provide one-on-one therapy for older teens (ages 16 and up) and adults across all stages of life. I have specialized training in treating severe depression and PTSD/complex PTSD. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy as my treatment of choice for PTSD, which the National Center for PTSD and the American Psychological Association both rank as one of the most effective treatment choices.

What should I expect?

The most important thing I provide as a therapist is a safe space to explore your issues, with no judgment or pressure. My clients describe me as warm, practical, and effective. I alternate between zooming out and shining a light on the cultural, environmental, and social factors that might be contributing to your issues, and zooming in to explore how your own thoughts and behavior patterns might also play a part.

In our first session I will ask you about your background, current issues, and what you'd like help with. Based on your responses I will craft a plan for how we can meet your goals, and work with you to edit the plan and make sure we're on the same page. I will usually share that plan and discuss it with you sometime around the third session, though it could be a little earlier or later in our work together.

I primarily use evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. Therapy is just one hour out of the 168 hours in a week, so I often give a small assignment between sessions, such as practicing what we worked on in-session at home. We'll plan together how to fit these small assignments into your day and make sure you have success. Throughout the therapy, I monitor progress in meeting your goals so that we know if we need to try something different. I work collaboratively with you to define therapy success; typically, that looks like experiencing fewer symptoms, engaging in your life in a more meaningful way, and having the confidence to act as your own "therapist" moving forward.

How much does therapy cost?

My fee is $240 per 50-minute session.

I am a Lyra network provider. You can check if your employer offers Lyra as a benefit here or contact your company’s Human Resources or People Operations department.

I do not accept insurance or have a sliding scale at this time. However in order to make therapy more affordable I am enrolled with a billing tool called Thrizer that makes out-of-network billing easy with your health insurance plan. With Thrizer, you pay your responsibility for our sessions, while they cover the rest of the fee and wait for reimbursement on your behalf. Call your insurance company to verify out-of-network benefits or use Thrizer’s out-of-network verification tool.

Do you offer video therapy / telehealth?

I am focused on offering in-person services right now. Video therapy can be just as effective as in-person, but I find that I feel more present and connected when I am sitting in a room with my client. Occasionally I might transition to video sessions with an existing client due to travel or other extenuating circumstances.

Do you treat problems aside from PTSD and depression?

Yes! In addition to my specializations in PTSD and depression, I have experience and training in many other common problems people bring to therapy. This includes:

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship issues

  • Substance use

  • Sleep problems

  • Chronic pain

  • Eating and body image concerns

  • Identity questions or transitions

What types of people do you work with?

I treat clients from all backgrounds and identities and I honor what makes each person unique. As a White, cisgender, straight woman I act as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and people with marginalized racial or cultural identities. I will often invite conversation about these differences in the therapy room to ensure we have open communication and can explore how our identities might be influencing our work together.

Unfortunately my office is not accessible for people who cannot walk up a flight of stairs.

Please reach out to me with any additional questions and I would be happy to answer them.
